European Copyright Consultation – Make your voice heard!
The SAA is calling on European screenwriters, directors and their professional organisations to reply to the public consultation.
The European Commission has launched a consultation on copyright (deadline 5th March). The SAA would normally reply on behalf of our members but unfortunately this consultation has become a battle of quantity, not quality. Copyright reform groups have been encouraging individual internet users to reply to the consultation and explain to the Commission what is wrong with copyright. The European Commission has already received 3,000 such responses (they usually get 250!). It is therefore essential that they hear that screenwriters, directors and any other authors rely on their authors’ rights.
European creators again need to send a powerful message to Europe’s decision makers of the importance of their authors’ rights.
