The ruling published on 27 June 2013 recognises that any device used as part of a reproduction process can be subject to a levy to compensate authors for the reproduction, without their authorisation, of their protected works.

European Screenwriters and Directors societies welcome audiovisual exclusion from TTIP
The Society of Audiovisual Authors on behalf of its members and the 120,000 screenwriters and directors whose rights they represent welcome the Council's adoption of a negotiation mandate that excludes audiovisual services, including for online, and that any subsequent change to the mandate on this issue will require unanimity among the Council.

European cinema congratulates the European parliament for its vote in favour of culture
Eurocinema, Europa Cinemas, Europa Distribution, Europa International, the European Producers Club, FERA, FIAD, SAA and UNIC congratulate the European Parliament for voting in favour of the resolution calling for the exclusion of cultural and audiovisual services, including online services, from the negotiating mandate of the free trade agreement between the US and the EU. This resolution was adopted with a large majority which demonstrates the strong support for the preservation of the cultural exception.

One day in Strasbourg - SAA shows off Europe's audiovisual creativity
For the first edition of “One Day in Strasbourg”, The Society of Audiovisual Authors (SAA), the European association of audiovisual collective rights management organisations for screenwriters and directors, is putting the spotlight on Europe’s new boom in TV series on the 21st May. Creators, collective management organisations and MEPs will meet for informal discussions about the work of screenwriters and directors in creating a TV series over the course of the evening.
