Agnès Jaoui

Agnès Jaoui is a French screenwriter, director and actress, best known for her acting (in Un Air de famille, Le rôle de sa vie) as well as for her writing and directing. Her debut as a director, Le Goût des Autres (The Taste of Others), was nominated for an Oscar for “Best Foreign Language Film” in 2000. Comme une Image (Look at Me) won the “Best screenplay” of the Cannes Film Festival in 2004. Following 2008’s Parlez-moi de la pluie (Let It Rain), 2013 saw the release of Au Bout du Conte (Under the Rainbow). She co-authored L’Art de la Fugue (The Easy Way Out) with Raphaëlle Valbrune and Brice Cauvin, the director. The movie was released in France in March 2015. Agnes Jaoui’s latest project as a director, co-writer and actress, Place Publique was released in 2018. She also acted in the TV serie En Thérapie (2021-2022) for Arte and directed two episodes. She is the most awarded woman in the history of the Césars, awarded by the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma, with seven trophies (with one Honorary César awarded in 2024).
