Paul Powell
Paul Powell is a British television writer, script editor and producer. His screen credits include the situation comedy Miranda, the panel game Have I Got News For You and the infamous satire Spitting Image. Career highlights include a British Comedy Award for Al Murray’s Happy Hour, an RTS award for Miranda and the title of 39th greatest comedy sketch of all time for a contribution to Smack The Pony. He is a director of Black Dog Television, the independent production company behind Alexander Armstrong’s Big Ask. He co-authored and co-produced Zapped and Insert Name Here, a comedy panel game broadcast by BBC Two in 2016. Given the re-sounding success of the programme, Powell worked on four seasons. In 2020, he wrote another, Miranda: My such fun celebration. He is developing Bird, a TV sitcom narrating the story of Michelle, who becomes pen pals with a convicted killer on death row.
