Barbara Miller

Barbara Miller is an award-winning independent Swiss documentary director. She has a background as a lawyer and started in the film industry by working on the Oscar-nominated documentary War Photographer (by Christian Frei, 2000). Since 2001, she directed over twenty acclaimed documentaries for Swiss National Television and the big screen, ranging from the anti-globalization movement, the Summit Stormers (2022) to Domestic Violence (2005), Sex in the Internet (2008) and Clitoris (2005). Barbara Miller also directed a variety of human-rights documentaries. Her award-winning feature-length documentary Forbidden Voices (2012) was shown at more than 70 festivals worldwide. Her latest prizewinning documentary #Female Pleasure (2018) was a huge theatrical success, the most successful Swiss documentary worldwide, and has been touring for the last four years as a crowd-pleaser around the globe. Her most recent work, Wisdom of Happiness (2024), is a documentary/interview to the Dalai Lama, a Swiss American production of world-wide distribution.
Barbara Miller is a member of the Swiss Film Academy and of the European Film Academy EFA. She is also President of the Swiss Directors Guild and Screenwriters Association since 2017.
