Danis Tanović joins SAA board of patrons

Danis Tanović is a Bosnian film director and screenwriter.  Having started studying at the Sarajevo Film Academy, he completed his studies in Brussels following the outbreak of war.  After a number of shorts and documentaries, his first feature length fiction film was No Man’s Land (2001) which received international critical acclaim as well as the best screenplay prize at the Cannes International Film Festival and the best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars.  His last film, An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker (2013), received the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Danis Tanović sat on the Jury at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2003 and was the winner of the 2014 European Union Media Prize for his film project What Are You Looking At?  He is currently professor of film directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo.
